Twelve of us met to discuss Doc by Mary Doria Russell on a cold winter night in February. There was a lot of discussion of the way in which Russell decided to unfold the narrative as a character study rather than being driven by plot. Stereotypes of the old west were discussed. The mythology of the characters was interesting to dissect.
