Recurring Events for Kids
Read to a CHAMPS Therapy Dog | First Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Dogs make the best listeners! Stop by the library to read your favorite book to a therapy dog from CHAMPS. Events are free and open to children and families.
Baby and Toddler Story Time | Tuesdays at 9:30 am – Join us for a story time focusing on children from 0-2 years of age with an emphasis on short stories and songs. This is a great time to get out of the house and see what the other parents and babies are doing.
Preschool Story Time | Tuesdays at 10:30 am
Enjoy listening to stories, singing songs and doing finger-plays in a group setting. For ages 3-5.
Big Ideas Club | Tuesdays at 3:15 pm
The Big Ideas Club is a makerspace for grade school-aged children that meets every Tuesday from 3:15-4:00 p.m. Explore low-tech and high-tech projects and gizmos to fuel your curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and math!
Brentwood Bookworms | Third or Fourth Wednesdays at 3:30 pm
Kids ages 9 and older are invited to meet on the third or fourth Wednesdays of the month (unless otherwise noted) after school from 3:30-4:15. Each meeting includes a game, craft, or activity, and usually includes a snack. Please join us if you have read the book or are interested in joining for future meetings.
Toddler Yoga | Thursdays at 9:30 am
Toddlers and their caregivers can participate in a fun 30-minute yoga class. Classes are taught by certified yoga instructors and are free to attend. While a limited number of yoga mats with be available for use, we recommend you bring your own if possible. There will be no class on Thursday, March 7th.
Family Craft | Third or Fourth Fridays at 3:30 pm
Join us for our monthly family craft event. All crafts are free and open for children and families.
PAWS for Reading | Fourth Thursdays at 6 pm
Dogs make the best listeners! Stop by the library to read your favorite book to dogs from Support Dogs, Inc. Events are free and open to children and families.
Recurring Events for Adults
Adulting 101 | Last Tuesdays, 6:30 pm
The internet can teach you how to tie a tie, but not whether to wear one. We’ll help you learn to budget, meal plan, negotiate a raise, manage student loans, nail an interview, choose a host or hostess gift, mend a sock, and much more. Join us on the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm to master the precarious art of adulting, starting January 29, 2019.
Resolutions Book Club| Every other month
There is something about the blank slate of the new year that welcomes us to become the version of ourselves that we have always dreamed we would be. Join us for Resolutions, a bi-monthly book club. Together we will share our goals and cheer each other on. This book club will also have a Facebook group page that you will be invited to join. Creativity Club | Bi-monthly
Like to knit? Got a novel you’re working on? Want time to collage or to scrapbook? Join us for a bi-monthly shared-space working meeting where we make time to practice our creative passions! One session a month will be on a Tuesday at 6pm; another will be on a Saturday at 12 pm. Check our calendar for specific dates.
Walking Club | Thursdays, 12 pm
Join us for an hour-long neighborhood walk! Get out into nature and get moving in the new year. We’ll start from the library; please bring activity- and weather-appropriate footwear and clothes. This program is weather-dependent, so please call or check back on the calendar for last-minute updates.
Just For Fun | Monthly
Not your mother’s book club–but honestly, she’ll want to come, too! Choose any title related to our monthly themes and then come out for a mixer on the third Friday of every month for food and conversation. Social Sketch | Monthly
Learn introductory sketching and painting skills with instructors from the St. Louis Artist’s Guild! We encourage you to bring your own supplies, but will have basics on hand if needed. Adult Craft | First Wednesdays at 6 pm and Second Thursdays at 10 am
Due to this program’s popularity, we’ve added a craft morning on Second Thursdays at 10 am. Join other adults at the library to complete a project! We will bring the supplies if you bring your crafty self. Suggestions are encouraged. Projects are free but registration is required and limited to 12 people.
