When the headmistresses of St. Etheldreda’s School for Young Ladies and her younger brother fall down dead at dinner, the pupils are not very heartbroken. Once they’ve gotten over the shock of dead bodies at the dinner table, the seven young women realize that their headmistress’ untimely demise will only cause them to each be sent back to the family they did not fit into. With the eldest, Kitty, leading the plan, the girls plot to hide the bodies and continue their newfound freedom. Unfortunately, their little home on Prickwillow Place seems to be getting more than the average number of visitors and they must continue to concoct more tales to cover the lies. But while they focus on how to care for themselves financially and keep their secret hidden, a murderer is still free in the city — or even the house!
